VOTE DUKE
Apart from our role as host of the FELMAUSA 2009 convention, Minnesota has been a very strategic community in the Federation. Indeed, we serve as the hub of the Midwest, and the community has been able to contain most of its internal differences which has served as a blueprint for other states as well.
In view of our socio-political maneuvers, the community continues to attract new comers to the United States and residents from other states and such has led to an increase in the population of the Mandingoes. In terms of education, Minnesota continues to produce the highest number of college graduates annually and such has triggered a slight increase in college-leaving populations from other states too.
While it is clearly true that wars lead to destructions of infrastructures, lives and immense sufferings, the Liberian civil in particular had great impacts on the Mandingoes. The Mandingoes led the struggle to democratization, rule of law, freedom of expression and movement as human beings within the territorial limits of Liberia and today, the Mandingoes are given credits whether uttered publicly or not.
In the United States, the Mandingoes are consolidating resources for social justice, advocacy and development of its member communities. The question most people keep asking is how do we achieve such a big dream with one voice when issues of policies and leadership styles are obstructing factors?
Well, the way forward is having a leader of FELMAUSA who can bridge the gaps for socio-political reform. Since in fact, understanding a problem leads to concrete resolution, Minnesotans will be hosting Hon. Mohammed Dukuly, presidential aspirant for FELMAUSA, and can he lead us in achieving our dream as Mandingoes? Hon. Dukuly currently serves on the Education Committee of FELMAUSA and his track records are known by members of FELMAUSA. At present, FELMAUSA needs someone who believes in practical rather than theoretical approaches. A leader who can turn all those multi-colored proposals into material and financial gains, soliciting funds for short/long term projects and implementing proper financial management ethics.
Although the meeting came at a short notice, Hon. Dukuly has the perfect opportunity to nail several issues being highlighted by research analysts like myself and others. Once more, can Hon. Dukuly give message of substance to the Minnesota Mandingo Association comparative to those of Hon. Konneh in addressing our numerous concerns? Will the leadership policies and styles of Hon. Dukuly be different from those of Hon. Konneh’s? Minnesotans are anxiously awaiting to hear the message of change to be delivered by Hon. Dukuly?
Finally, I advise all community members to take advantage of the opportunity to Hon. Dukuly so as we all can relay the good message of change to our children and families. The meeting will be hosted at the following address:
